2022 Roster updates - queries/errors

Hey everyone, the spreadsheet has now been updated, and your team on Fantrax should align with the team on the spreadsheet.

Please check for any discrepancies you think you can find in the next 48 hours or so, and highlight them in the thread below for me to double-check.

The column '22 season' indicates this year's payroll for each team. Once everyone has checked their rosters this will be updated and reflected on Fantrax.

You can now make drops from your roster - a reminder than any player with a minors contract (MIN) can be dropped free of charge. Any player with a major league contract will be subject to the appropriate cap hits, which are also detailed on the spreadsheet.

Players who will undeniably start the season on the IL (Tommy John surgeries and the like) can be requested and placed there; those salaries won't then count against the cap in the usual way for the auction (although when the player comes off the IL you'll need space to activate them).

FYPD will begin on Friday 18th February.

Trading remains open during the FYPD, but draft picks will be finalised at midnight on 17th February. It just helps keep the admin of things cleaner that way.

Rosters will lock and trading will cease ahead of the major league auction. We intend to hold this shortly after the completion of the FYPD, but any developments in the lockout situation may delay this. I will update people nearer the time.

My intention is to do away with the spreadsheet over the course of this year and get all this data held on Fantrax, who can replicate the contract information, base salaries, etc in their system.

Corey Ray was dropped from Fantrax as requested but still appears on the minors section of the spreadsheet. Please remove him there too for he is a free off-season minor drop.

Wilson Ramos had ACL surgery in August 2021 and it typically takes 9 months for an athlete to return from it. Probably longer for him because he has had this surgery before. This means he will be injured if the season were to start in March. He currently has a red flag indicating injury and should be placed on the DL.

Josh Naylor experienced a catastrophic ankle/leg injury. You can see footage of the in game injury on YouTube. While he is reportedly rehabbing, it's very unclear if he will be ready for the start of the season. He too has a injury red flag in Fantrax, missed the entire last few months of last season and should be placed on the DL.

A few edits for me:

1) Chris Sale is correct for '22 ($12.3M), but the '23 season should add another 10% from the base ($10.25M -> $1.025M), making it $13.325M, not $13.53M.

2) Justin Verlander has the same concern as Sale - '22 is right @ $6.6M, but future years are off in adding an extra 10% from the base ($6.0M -> $600k), thus '23-'25 would be $7.2M, $7.8M, & $8.4M, not $7.26M, $7.986M, & $8.7846M. (Also, he does not have an extension value, but I am highly unlikely to pay $12M for him in his age-117 [43] season anyway!)

3) Chris Flexen has a base salary of $1.85M, so his extension value (for '23, which I will strongly consider if he continues his efforts from last year) would be $3.7M instead of $4M.

4) Ross Stripling was actually signed in 2019 by The Brisket for $2M x 4yrs. He was at $2.2M for last season and should now be at $2.4M (currently listed as $2.2M) and then $2.6M for '23. While I'd love the discount on this one, I cannot in good conscience leave it as-is.

There's a bit of a weird issue with some of the contract years on Fantrax, too - just perusing my team and noticed Ryan Yarbrough randomly had 2026 as his contract, which is an error. I'll keep an eye out for anything similar.

D Varsho 2022 season should be $500,000, not $550,000, he is in his first year. Spreadsheet
J Espinal & M Hiraldo need to be dropped from the spreadsheet minor leaguers. They have been dropped on Fantrax
J Groome and A Espinoza (recent trades) need to be added to my minor leaguers spreadsheet.

Fantrax. N Madrigal is listed as Min, it should be 2026.
K Jansen RP LAD was extended for the 2022 season, not 2026.

- I noticed that I have the old owners email on my page.
- Adrian Morejon is not on the Spreadsheet, so I need him added. Please place him on the IL (TJ won't be back to start the season) so I can save that $550,000 of Cap Space.
- Remove Zack Collins and I'll take the penalty. He's already been dropped on Fantrax.
- Nick Swiney was traded to the Chicago Dancing Bears for 5th Round Pick (Sandusky BatBoys)

Just dropped Michel Baez - Has a contract for $500K. We'll need to update the spreadsheet and take into consideration the salary cap hit.

Just a few errors:

1. Fairbanks is not on my team. (Traded) Logan Gilbert should be in that space. Same exact salaries over same exact years.
2. Joe Musgrove is on an extension. His salary is $7.6million. Currently his salary space is blank. He’s also listed as a contract expiring in 2026 in fantrax but should be 2022.

My minors salary is off but no use correcting that until after the draft.

Tyler O’Neill was won at auction in 2021 for 500k and out on a 2 year deal. His salary this year should be $550,000.
The spreadsheet has his salary as $500k and a 5 year deal. Fantrax has the right year but his salary is $500k there as well.
